A Beautiful Dark

While I work to become a published author, I often try to read books by debut writers as a way to stay current on what agents and publishers are looking for.  Obviously a book takes a long time to publish and trends can change, but it’s still a good way to keep up with what’s going on in the YA literary world.  As a way to help keep you informed and to get our fellow YA author’s names out there, I’m going to be posting information on books by debut authors.  The first one is for a book that came out last September, but I read it recently and I’m looking forward to the sequel coming out this fall.

From Goodreads: On the night of Skye's seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye's life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

A Beautiful Dark is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.

I picked this book up while wandering through the YA section at my local book store last winter and to be perfectly honest it was the cover that got me, I love the dress!  I didn’t have a chance to read it until this spring while on vacation, but it was an entertaining read, great for the beach.
If you like love triangles, this is the perfect book for you!
Below is the book trailer and, becuase a book is so much better when shared, I'm going to give away my copy.  Leave a comment and I'll randomly draw a name then announce the winner in two weeks on my next post.

  1. THis looks so fascinating - and I have to admit, love triangles are my guilty pleasure!
    Happy reading and reviewing!! :)

  2. Another YAPNR with a hot white girl in a fancy dress on the cover? The writing must be really good.
