I wasn’t sure if I was going to write about Couch to 5K today or WriteOnCon. Both of which are in the forefront of my mind this week.
WriteOnCon—the fabulous free online conference—wrapped up the end of last week. Even though I’m not seeking an agent, I LOVE WriteOnCon. For the great writing tips from industry pros, from the great insight in the forums, to the support from the writing community.
My absolute favorite post from the conference is this one about revision--http://writeoncon.com/2012/08/the-revision-checklist-by-author-talia-vance/--fromTaliaVance. It might be only because revision is where I’m at right now. But I found it perfect. It reminded me that even though I KNOW what I need to do to revise—we all need a kick in the pants once in a while. A reminder of how to do what we know we need to do.
Which brings me to Couch to 5K. I’ m not a runner. Never have been. But with a little practice, some determination, and a sprinkle of will-power, I’m hoping to be able to tone up, slim down, and get a bit heathier. I only started this week, but so far I'm doing okay.
So there, I guess I’ve written about both things. You might say that one doesn’t have anything to do with the other. But exercise and writing have many similarities—you’ve got to do them, to get better. To build up your muscles.
To be great.
