It has been 10 days since we've embarked on our latest quest for noveling glory. For most of us, the enthusiasm hasn't transformed into pure terror yet, or maybe for others, you've already gone off the deep end. Or just maybe you successfully planned everything out before you started and you're dusting your untouchable shoulders off as you speak.
Either way you're writing, all of the emotions, struggle, success, and accomplishment are normal. You're embarking on a month long journey and you should be proud of your decision to try and accomplish something that most people will not even attempt in their lifetimes.
Just in case you're in need of a swift kick in the... I mean, a motivational pat on the back, below are three links that may be of assistance.
YA Highway is doing an inspiration push for NaNoWriMo called The Carpool Lane. You can sign up to get daily inspirational emails to keep you writing. They're just awesome and I think they're worth checking out. You can find it here.
And just in case you missed it, Pen and Muse posted a NaNoWriMo Ultimate Resource guide earlier today. It's worth checking out and has a ton of cool resources including pretty writing calendars that I adore.
Oh, and lastly, one of my favorite authors / ex-literary agents to follow, Nathan Bransford, posted great NaNoWriMo resources as well, that include how to write a novel and the steps to take to get there.
In case I haven't said it before, feel free to add me on NaNoWriMo. You can find me by clicking HERE or searching the participants for my username Carniehands. I know... We all make bad decisions that haunt us.
That said, all of us at YA Stands wish you good luck! Put on those Writing-Hue glasses and type out the things you're seeing in your head. Let your characters talk to you. And let the rhythm of the music you may or may not be listening to be a soundtrack to your novel-movie.
Oh, and drop us a line below and let us know how it's going. I'd love to hear! And if you feel so inclined, include your NaNoWriMo username too. That way, all readers of YA Stands can add each other and send words of encouragement!
Good luck and good writing,
