Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa Ya Stands followers!
When it comes to Christmas shopping and gift giving, every year I say that I'm not going to wait til the last minute to be done. And every year I find myself still needing to buy gifts a few days or a few hours before Christmas. That said, I wanted to give you a few last minute gift ideas for YA writers and YA readers!
For the YA writer:
Most Best Buy stores carry them and they light up like a Christmas light when you plug it into your computer. They're available in most stores and come in red and green! 8Gbs for $7.99 as of 12/22/12.
A vintage pen nib hangs off of a 20 inch chain and is an fabulous reminder of what writing days used to look like before computers. No two are the same because they're all from real vintage pens. $34.99 as of 12/22/12.
This pen fits on your key ring and can be used to write in space, underwater, or from the comfort of your bed. It doesn't ever need ink, because it doesn't use ink to write. Which also means it doesn't smudge for you left-handers out there (like me). $29.99 as of 12/22/12.
You can find these in virtually any Barnes and Noble (that's where I got mine) and comes with some great activities for plot, a booklet, and a log to keep track of your writing. It's great for anyone contemplating doing NaNoWriMo, or anyone who has participated in NaNoWriMo before. To be honest, sometimes I use it for regular writing to get me out of a funk.
Around $12 as of 12/22/12.
For the YA reader
Okay? Okay. Necklace on Etsy (Inspired by John Green's "The Fault in our Stars"
What an awesome gift for any reader who loves John Green! It hangs on a long chain and is made from Sculpey clay.
As of 12/22/12 it's listed at $12.
This is a great gift, especially for anyone mourning the fact that the series really is over. This Severus Snape "Always" Doe Patronus necklace ensures that you remember that it's never really over. You can choose silver or gold (pictured here).
As of 12/22/12 it's listed at $22.
If you're like me, you've been obsessing over the Lux series since it came out, including Opal (the 3rd book) that's come out just in time for Christmas. Now you can try and pretend that you're Katy with a Daemon of your own, with this obsidian necklace. It comes on an adjustable string.
As of 12/22/12 it's listed at $35.
Whether it's your local bookstore or an awesome indie, show the YA reader in your life exactly how much you love him or her by getting them a gift card so that they can pick out the books of their choice.
Hopefully this has helped and you've gotten a few ideas to take with you for this year's holidays or something extra special just because in the near future. Since I wont see you again until 2013, have a happy New Year!
Is there anything I left off the list? Any gifts you'd recommend?
