Pitch Dark Dark Days Tour 2013

Pitch Dark Days Tour 2013

There's one thing I love almost as much as reading a good book, and it's meeting the incredible authors responsible for writing them.

When I was really small, I was lucky enough to meet Ray Bradbury. Fast forward to me in my twenties and I'd still never really met any authors besides him that I loved. Here or there, I would happen to be at Barnes and Noble and spy a lonely author with a debut book no one was paying attention to. I would immediately head over and fan-girl the crap out of them like I'd come with the soul purpose of meeting them and getting their book. We both left smiling.

But let me tell you, this past year, I've made an effort to head out and meet authors I love. They're usually so gracious, kind, and thankful. You have a chance to tell them how much you loved / swooned / laughed / giggled at their novel. You can take a photo with them or ask them about their latest projects. Let's be honest, wouldn't you want someone to show up in support of your book?

That said, I know the lovely Rebecca Carvalho recently blogged about the Breathless Reads 2013 Tour. Check out that post to see if your favorite authors are heading your way!

I'm here to tell you about the Pitch Dark Days tour, to hopefully give you that chance to meet an author you love or maybe discover a new favorite!

Pitch Dark Dark Days tour

The official site can be found here.

What's it like? It's free to attend. Just show up and be ready to be wow-ed. There may be snacks or free book swag they give you for coming. Usually it's courteous to buy something from the bookstore (like one of their books) for holding the free event, but obviously it's not required  Found this awesome video posted by Harper Teen, showing what a previous tour in 2012 was like.

When are they coming to my town?

Leg 1 of the tour (Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, Tahereh Mafi, and Veronica Rossi) goes as follows:
February 4th @ 7 pm Barnes and Noble Huntington Beach, CA (I will be there, will you?)
February 5th @ 7 pm Little Shop of Stories Decatur, GA
February 6th @ 7 pm Barnes and Noble Cary, NC
February 7th @ 7 pm Harvard Coop Cambridge, MA

Leg 2 of the tour (Debra Driza, Claudia Gray, Lauren Oliver, Dan Wells, and Kiersten White)
March 6th @ 7 pm Provo Library, Provo UT
March 7th @ 6:30 pm University Books Seattle, WA
March 8th @ 6:30 pm Barnes and Noble Clackamas, OR

For sentiment, here's an enthusiastic picture of me and one of my favorite authors Jackson Pearce
I met her last year at ALA in Anaheim. She was so kind and gracious.

Will you be attending this book tour?
Which one of your favorite authors have you met?
