From the Page to the Big Screen
Last night I went with my fiance Ryan, my brother Jim, and my best friend Johanna to see the movies The Hobbit. The last thing I expected to see on the big screen last night, were the previews for two YA books set to be released in 2013... books I didn't even know were being turned into movies.
The first trailer to come on was Warm Bodies. It's a phenomenal read that I immediately fell in love with last year. In short, it's a zombie love story. But honestly, there's SO much more to it than that. I know, it sounds amazing. It is. You should probably buy a zillion copies.
Warm Bodies is authored by an alarmingly attractive male named Isaac Marion, whose picture I'll undoubtedly insert somewhere at the bottom so that you can drool along with me. Ahem. Sorry. And what makes me love him even more? He's writing the sequel.
The movie is backed by Summit Entertainment and you can find the trailer below. Don't worry, it comes out soon. February 2013.
Beautiful Creatures came on next. I haven't read it, but it's been on my To-Read list on Goodreads for longer than I'd like to admit. Picture a southern town, a curse, and a love story. Obviously, there's so much more to it than that, but like it or hate it, it seems like everyone can agree on those three things.
Beautiful Creatures is penned by the lovely Kami Garcia, who has written more than just this book. In fact, in case you weren't aware, Beautiful Creatures is part of a series. You can check them out here.
I thought the trailer looked fantastic. It's also due out in February 2013. Looks like Valentine's Day will be full of YA Releases. See the trailer below.
It kind of reminds me of that one movies.. .The Craft. Remember it?
Anywho, that's not all. Apparently there are MORE YA novels to be released as movies in 2013. I knew it would be a good year! They include:
- The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
- Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
- Ender's Game
- Catching Fire
- The Great Gatsby
Did I forget any? Are you super excited about this trend of YA books to the Big Screen? Which ones are you most excited to see?
P.s. As promised, here is a picture of the gorgeous Isaac Marion. Not sure what's more attractive about him, his face or his imagination and writing style.
