Sharing Writing's Little Surprises

When Don Draper is asked why he wrote the article about giving up tobacco—I’m terribly hooked on Mad Men right now—he replies, “I think in my heart it was an impulse, because I knew what I needed to do to move forward.”

This is writing. Impulse is what fuels the fire. Gets words on paper. And it doesn’t have anything to do with how much or how little you plot and plan. Every writer still finds that surprise at the bottom of the Cracker Jack Box.

Let’s share our surprises and impulses with each other. Let’s celebrate our writing, join me today in posting on Twitter using #PubHubSurprises.
